Suncoast Quilting Circle Community Service (updated 8/26/10) The Suncoast Quilting Circle is very active with community service projects. For example, we make lap quilts, bibs, preemie hats, wheelchair and walker bags, booties for nursing homes, hospitals, and centers for preschoolers and infants. The most popular item that members choose to make is the lap quilts.
Since our last show, the quilters in the guild have also given of themselves by making special quilts for our servicemen
and women in Iraq. This will be an ongoing project until every service member returns. In our commitment to the next generation, we helped the Guardian Ad Litum Suncoast Voices for
Children Foundation on National Adoption Day to create special quilts designed by the children, which was auctioned off to
raise funds. Another project that is also close to our hearts is making baby quilts for Project Linus. As hurricane Katrina hit the shores of our country, our guild again joined the many relief efforts and made 33 bed quilts in 2 weeks. Other donations from
our guild include books for local libraries, contributions to Hospice, WUSF-TV Channel 16 and St. Petersburg College Educational
Scholarship Fund. Community Service
